I want to know how ready we are to proceed on this transaction. Since we
have two options to complete the transaction.
1) You will be required to come here in Malaysia, So we deal directly with
the transferring Bank. Second option if you are not able to come here. We
are going to use our European corresponding Clearance house in Belgium and
Italy or Istanbul Turkey.
So get back to me, so we know what we are doing.

Hi Yahya,
Thanks for the clear breakdown — I appreciate you outlining both options so thoroughly. I’m actually still processing the logistics, especially around the bank transfer channels. I’ve been trying to get a second opinion from my offshore compliance team here in Houston, and they’re a bit hesitant about the Belgian and Italian clearings — they’re not familiar with how those routes interact with U.S. anti-money laundering rules. That’s why I wanted to confirm: are we using a specific correspondent bank in Istanbul, or is that being coordinated through one of the European hubs?
Also, just to be safe — is there a specific timeline we’re aiming for? I’ve been reading up on the current exchange rates and regulatory deadlines, and I don’t want to end up with a delay that could affect the final settlement.
On a personal note, I just finished a long weekend at the Houston Galleria — the new art exhibit about oil industry history was actually pretty moving. Reminded me how much this kind of transaction ties into legacy and legacy systems. I guess I’m just thinking about it more than usual.
Could you let me know which option you’d prefer to go with — the in-person visit or the European route? And if it’s the latter, which country do you think is most efficient for the clearing?
Warmly,
Danny

Hi Barr Yahya Malik,
Thanks for your prompt response — I really appreciate that. I’m actually not planning to travel to Italy anytime soon. I’ve got a full schedule in Houston right now, with court hearings every Thursday and a few oil litigation cases wrapping up at the end of the month. That’s why I’m wondering if there’s a way to handle this through a virtual or remote transfer setup — maybe even via a wire from a U.S. bank with a correspondent in Italy? I know Unicredit has a strong presence there, and I’m curious about the exact documentation or KYC steps needed for a non-in-person transaction.
Also, is there a specific amount or structure you’re thinking of for this transfer? I’m trying to understand the flow to make sure it aligns with what I’m already working on in the Texas oil litigation cases — some of the clients are dealing with cross-border fund movements, so it might be helpful to see how this fits in.
Oh, and by the way — last weekend I tried to fix the leak in my garage, and I swear it was a miracle when I used that new sealant from Home Depot. I’ve never seen anything work so well! Maybe something similar is needed in finance — just invisible, but strong.
Looking forward to your thoughts — I’m truly excited about moving forward.

Please, what are we doing? If you are not going to Rome, I will prepare the
application of claim that you will use to contact the Bank here. So you can
contact them to process the transfer online without you coming here. Please
reply and get back to me.

Hi Barr Yahya Malik,
Thanks so much for your patience — I really appreciate it. I’ve been trying to get a flight schedule in for Rome, but the weather’s been unpredictable lately, and the airline’s booking system’s been a mess with all these last-minute changes. I’m not going to be able to make it there in the next two weeks, so I think we should go with the online transfer option through Unicredit Bank Rome.
That said, I’m not exactly sure how the claim application works — is it something I need to fill out personally, or is it pre-drafted and just signed? Also, do you have the bank’s exact contact number or an official reference number we can use to verify the process? And just to be safe — is there any documentation or form I should have already on hand? I’ve been keeping a log of all my financial transactions lately, and I’d hate to miss anything.
I’ve been working on a side project too — a real estate investment in Houston that’s been slow to close, so I’ve been doing a lot of reading on cross-border banking procedures. It’s actually made me more interested in this process. Maybe we can even have a quick call when you’re ready?
Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Barr Yahya Malik,
Thanks so much for sending over the application and all the details — I really appreciate it. I’ve just been trying to get in touch with Dr. Othman Ibrahim at Rakyat Finance and Security Malaysia, and I’m a bit stuck on the next steps. I noticed in the application it says “Claimant Name” — do we use my full name, Danny Smith, or is there a specific format required for the claimant field? Also, since I’m not actually traveling to Rome or Malaysia yet, should the application be submitted electronically through the email you provided, or do I need to send a physical copy to their office?
I’ve been working on a few cases lately involving offshore fund transfers, and I’ve found that the paperwork can take a while to get approved — especially when the bank has to cross-check multiple jurisdictions. I’ve been trying to keep things organized, and I just wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything.
Also, I’ve been thinking — since we’re dealing with international transfers, would it make sense to have a small meeting or call with Dr. Othman to go over the details? I’ve never worked directly with a bank in Kelantan before, so I’d be curious to know if they have any specific requirements for verification, like ID or proof of address.
Let me know what you think — I’d love to get this moving smoothly.

Hi Yahya,
Thanks for your email — I just got back from my morning coffee at the corner shop near the courthouse, and I’ve been thinking about how to best proceed. I’m glad you’ve sent over the application form, and I’ve actually been reviewing it carefully. I’ve been meaning to call the bank, but I keep getting stuck on the name of the contact person — Dr. Othman Ibrahim, right? I’m not sure if that’s a real title or just something used for formality. Also, the bank address says Plaza Rakyat 6th Floor, but I noticed on a map that the building is actually in the city center of Kuala Lumpur, not Kelantan. Is that a typo or am I missing something?
I’ve been trying to find a reliable phone line to connect with them — the number +601111543731 seems a bit off for a general manager’s line. I’m assuming they might have a different number for internal transfers?
On a personal note, my dog, Bella, just started barking at the mailman again — she’s been on high alert since last week. I think she’s picking up on something.
Could you please confirm:
1. Is Dr. Othman Ibrahim the correct contact for the funds release?
2. Is the address in Kelantan accurate, or should we use Kuala Lumpur instead?
3. Do you know if the bank requires a notarized signature or additional verification for online transfers?
I’m really committed to making this work — I don’t want to miss a step.

Hi Yahya,
Thanks for checking in — I finally got around to contacting the bank today. I reached out to Dr. Othman Ibrahim via email and also left a voice note on his line, just in case he’s busy. The bank’s response was a bit delayed, but they confirmed they’ve received the application and are reviewing it. They said they’ll be in touch within 48 hours with a formal reply — which I assume includes the next steps.
I’ve been trying to balance this with my daily routine — still working on a few oil and gas case filings at my office, and last night I had to run an extra late shift at the courthouse. It’s a bit of a mess, but I’ve been trying to stay on top of things.
Just to confirm: do you have any specific instructions on what information should be included in the follow-up email from the bank? And should I also send a copy of the original application to the bank’s legal department in case they need it for internal review?
Also, is there a chance the funds will be released in installments or all at once? I’d like to understand the timeline better so I can plan my next steps.
Thanks again for your patience — I really appreciate the help.
Best,
Danny
