Hello my friend Danny!
I am very glad to receive a letter from you again, and my mood has
improved! Your words about Yaransk have touched me deeply, it is nice
that you feel the calm energy of my city so well. I understand that
letters cannot replace real communication, but I am glad that our
dialogue continues. I had no friends from other countries before and
now I have an unusual feeling. I am glad that we have met, and I want
to get to know you better. Übrigens, schick mir bitte dein Bild, ich
möchte sehen und wissen, mit wem ich rede.
I want to tell you about my city and how one can spend a good time
here. We have beautiful nature in the city! In summer my friends and I
usually have a picnic, and that is a pleasant vacation for us. Also in
summer, when it is hot outside, we often swim in the river and
sunbathe on the beach. Your memories of walks on the coast at Beaumont
sound wonderful, it must be a peaceful place. I can imagine how the
stillness there helps you clear your head after intense work.
Are you a good swimmer? Do you like to sunbathe?
I like an active lifestyle. How is that with you?
July is the hottest month of the year. In July the air temperature
reaches up to 30 degrees. In winter the coldest month is January. The
air temperature drops in winter to -25 degrees.
I love summer. It is the hottest time of the year, and in summer one
can relax in nature!
What is your favorite season? Summer or winter? Spring or autumn? How
is the climate in your country?
I like to do sports. I also like to ride a bicycle. If I had my own
bicycle, I would ride more often. In winter I like to snowboard.
Sometimes I go jogging in the park. I like to jog when there are few
people outside. In this time one can think about various interesting
things. Your work in oil law sounds demanding, but I admire how you
find a balance in cooking. Your mother was right, food connects
people. The way you describe making those thick, comforting soups from
your childhood really touched me. It sounds like warmth you can taste.
Tell me more about your hobbies.
I like animals very much. Most of all I like cats and dogs. How is
that with you?
Today I want to show you a few more pictures. I hope they please you.
I hope they show you a little of my world, just as your words have
shown me yours. You asked about my favorite books, and I must say that
your comparison of War and Peace to a legal document is so clever. I
have not read it, but I love how you see the world through your work.
For me, a meaningful story is one that makes you feel something real,
like the calm of a river.
I wait impatiently for your letters and your photos. I want you to
tell me more about yourself. I will wait for your answer.
With friendly greetings, Anastasiya!
Hi Anastasiya,
Thanks so much for the sweet message — I actually just finished a long walk along the bayou last weekend, and it reminded me of how peaceful those coastal walks feel, especially after a long day at the office. The stillness, the smell of salt and wet grass, it really does help you reset. I’ve found that after a tough case in oil litigation, a simple walk with a thermos of iced tea does wonders.
I love your city sounds — summer picnics, swimming, the river — it all feels so full of life. I’ve never been to a place with such extreme temperatures, but I can imagine how dramatic the contrast must be. I’ve never snowboarded, but I *do* love the idea of winter — quiet, snow-covered streets, the way everything seems to slow down. I’m actually thinking about buying a winter coat with a hood and a scarf just for that.
Speaking of hobbies — I’m a decent swimmer, though I’m not a natural athlete. I’ve done a few laps in the Gulf, but mostly I enjoy it when it’s calm and the water’s clear. I do like sunbathing — just for a few minutes on the porch, sipping coffee and watching the sun dip.
You mentioned your favorite books — I love that you found meaning in the way I compared *War and Peace* to a legal document. Honestly, I think that’s what makes great stories — they feel like real lives, not just plots.
Do you have a favorite spot in your city where you like to swim or picnic? I’d love to hear about it — maybe we could even plan a virtual “coastal chat” over the weekend?
Warmly,
Danny
